Every year my church has a summer vacation bible school. Each year there is always a different theme for the week of VBS. This year was A.I.M…
Coincidence? I think not….
This year was A.I.M. Agents In Motion. The whole week was focused on missionary work. To get out of your comfort zone and go share the love and story of Christ.
The first day blew me away and I could feel the holy spirit in the church. The crazy thing about it was it only 30 minutes into the day and had a feeling this week would be unforgettable. I knew this year was going to have an impact on myself and the kids who were “Agents in Motion”.
All of the kids wore their bright orange shirts that represented the theme and all of the leaders including myself wore black shirts that represented “A.I.M”. Hundreds of kids were wearing shirts with “A.I.M” on it. I couldn’t stop thinking that God is just giving me a sign saying “Sarah, stop doubting, do not be worried this is what im calling you for”.
Before VBS I was having doubts and trouble with my faith with fundraising and the idea of leaving my loved ones for 9 whole months in countries around the world but when I walked into the church with hundreds of adults and children wearing the “AIM” shirts I felt a sense of peace and security with God stronger than ever before.
During this AMAZING week, I was blessed with the opportunity to lead a group of first graders. From day one I fell in love with each and every one of them. You could see their excitement on their beautiful smiling faces.
By the end of the week I had my little kids come up to me and tell them how they are praying for me in my upcoming trip with Adventure In Missions. Little first graders were praying for me and all of my team mates. How crazy is that? I was blessed to see God move into their lives and consume them! All of the kids were on fire for Christ and wanting a relationship with him.
The final day a large group of kids came on the stage during worship time. These kids took the biggest step of their lives…. This step was accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior…. 75 kids took this step that will forever change them! 75 kids took the step to have a relationship with God. One of these 75 kids never heard the name of Christ before coming to VBS and by the end of this week she accepted him as her Savior! All I can say is GOD IS GREAT. I do not know each of these 75 kids testimonies but I do know they will change the world and they will be the light to people who do not know God’s love. They will be “Agents in Motion”.
This Vacation Bible School changed my life. It reassured me that God is calling me to this 9 month mission trip and most of all changed the lives of 75 beautiful children that now are my brothers and sisters in Christ.
